Wordpress Tips
SEO For Your Blog/Website. Are You Doing It?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is something that should be on everyones mind when running a blog or website. You have to make sure you get the basics right, which will give you plenty of traffic and ensure you have a successful blog.
One of the first things you MUST check is that search engines can actually see your site. To check, go to settings and then privacy. Make sure you have “ I would like my blog to be visible to everyone” checked Another very important step is to allow people to comment on your site. If you limit this feature, you will be limiting how successful your site wil become.
Some people only let people who are registered comment, or dont allow anyone to comment at all. Please dont go down that route. Allow people to comment as their comments will become an important part of your business. Allowing comments engages your visitors and gives you an endless supply of fresh new content, which is exactly what goggle and others are looking for. The more activity they see, the more important they will consider your site.
Reduce Your Site Bandwidth And Disc Space
It could be that you are planning on having big, big files on your website or blog, but are worried about the amount of bandwidth you might use. If so, read on as it’s very easy to ensure that it costs you next to nothing.
When you host a picture or video on your site, it costs you in disc space and bandwidth. If it’s just a little picture, it wont be a problem. But when you have something huge, it can make the site viewer impatient as they wait for it to load, and cost you masses in bandwidth.
To avoid those problems, use the following methods. If you have a movie you want to show on your site, upload it to youtube, and then use the embed link to put it on your site. It will be youtube that have the bandwidth costs and not you, as they will be the ones hosting the file. You can do similar things with images.
External image providers such as Amazon S3, Imageshack, Flickr and Photobucket will all host your pictures for free. When you want to add one to your article, instead of uploading a picture, you simply paste the URL of it from where you have the picture hosted.
