Promoting Amazon products via your wordpress powered site can either make you a lot of money or make you practically nothing at all. Also, for some reason, a lot of website owners steer away from marketing Amazon products.

It’s true that commissions earnt are not that high, but if you can achieve high traffic to your website which in turn is marketing the “Right” products, you could achieve marvellous earnings. For starters, only go for the products that sell at $150 plus.

One way of telling whether you’re in the right niche is to take a look at your click-throughs. In my opinion, if you can get 1000 unique visitors to your site, and 15% to 20% click through to amazon, you are on the right lines.

The articles on your site should be a mix of product reviews and informational articles relating to those products. I’d suggest that for every 2 reviews you have 1 which is info related. By info I mean terms and phrases related to the products. For example, a cordless drill. Point out what 12 volts, 18 volts 24 volts means, and how they benefit the user.

Including these seperate info related articles makes your site stand out from the norm, and offers the reader options that they otherwise may not of thought of.

If you can, get yourself a non hyphenated domain name. For example if you’re promoting flatscreen tv’s get flatscreentv.com. If its taken try flatscreen-tv.com.

1. Always try to hand write the product reviews yourself. Yes, it’s easier to copy and paste the reviews from amazon, but new unique content is far, far better. You can of course include a few consumer reviews, and then have text links going to them.
2. Base your website around by the bestsellers on Amazon for a particular group of products. There will probably be a couple of hundred different versions of this product on Amazon.
3. Scour the web for even more info on the product, such as whats included, what extras a buyer can get to compliment their purchase, what other brand names are available and why your chosen product is better than those.
4. Visit the manufacturers’ sites for additional information.
5. Promote your site by bookmarking a handful of articles, a hubpage and maybe a few Squidoo lenses.
6. Always make sure that the article title is the “Full Product Name Review”.
7. Include linked images, linked text and Amazon reviewers comments to Amazon.
9. Another good thing to include is a “Check the price” button or link.
10. Ensure that if you are reviewing more than one of a specific product, that you keep the reviews in a standard format. To achieve that you can copy the html of one of your reviews, and paste it into the new one, changing all the relevant data.

A lot of this is trial and error, but if done right, you’ll start to make money with amazon, and the more you do the more you’ll make.
